Boukha Bokobsa took over Diego San restaurant in Tel Aviv and held an all local carftsmanship fair in celebration of the craftsmanship Mr Bokobsa had in making Boukha Bokobsa.
It all started with Avraham BOKOBSA, in the late 1790’s. Jews in Tunisia at the time weren’t allowed to possess any land and were restricted to three main activities : they could work as usurers, work on clothes or make alcohol. At this time figs and dates were growing very largely in the country. As there was almost no wine produced in Tunisia and Avraham BOKOBSA needed something Kosher to drink for Shabbat. He tried with figs and that is how fig brandy was invented.
